Membership
How Proposed Membership Would Work.
Credit union membership is defined by a field of membership. Here is the proposed structure being developed as part of the charter application.
Currently in Organization • Subject to Regulatory ApprovalProposed Structure
From Community Association to Eligible Membership.
Each step below is part of the proposed model. Nothing in this structure is final until the chartering process is complete.
- Step 1
Ghanaian Diaspora Association of America, Inc.
A national umbrella membership association bringing together individuals and Ghanaian community organizations.
- Step 2
Approved Field of Membership
The group the regulator ultimately approves the credit union to serve, defined through the chartering process.
- Step 3
Eligible Members
Individuals and organizations who fall within the approved field of membership.
- Step 4
Diaspora Credit Union
The proposed member-owned credit union, able to serve eligible members after all required approvals.
Final credit union eligibility will be determined by the approved field of membership established through the chartering process. No membership applications or deposits are being accepted at this time.
Who the Association Brings Together
A Broad National Community Network.
The association is intended to include individuals as well as the organizations that already anchor diaspora community life.

- Churches and faith organizations
- Professional associations
- Alumni organizations
- Business organizations
- Student groups
- Cultural organizations
